Objective: Set-up crontab to automatically renew the SSL certificate

Time: ~10 minutes

This tutorial is specifically for this set-up. In general, it can be helpful for setting up your crontab.

This will set up the Ubuntu instance to automatically update the SSL certificate using crontab. Crontab is a file that store the jobs you want the system to execute at a specific time. First, SSH into your instance. To change the crontab, type in:

sudo crontab -e

You can choose the nano editor, probably the easiest. Enter a line like this. Hit Control + x to save. Save to the default file name given.

Run the script at 12:30am on the first day of every month
